Day 33: Hearing God

OUR PURPOSE

READ- Matthew 28:18-20, Matthew 5:14-16, Isaiah 41:10

REFLECT- Every time I descend my stairs I see a framed print that was given to me by some precious friends. It is a map of the world. On that map is written Matthew 28:19, “Go and make disciples of all nations.” It is a constant reminder to me of my purpose. There is no doubt! I know that God has called me to full time ministry because I am supposed to make disciples. The thing is, this verse is not directed only at those He calls to be pastors. It’s for anyone who chooses to follow Jesus. We all have a responsibility to tell others about Him. We can’t just attend a church service once a week and expect our staff and pastors to do all the evangelizing. Yes, it can be difficult. Maybe you are afraid of what someone might think. Maybe you feel like you won’t be able to answer their questions. Maybe it just feels awkward. But sharing our faith doesn’t mean you have to ask some stranger if they know Jesus or tell them they'll go to hell if they don’t confess. Sometimes it's simply talking about your own faith, about how Jesus has changed your life, about how God has blessed you. God will go before you and walk with you. Scripture repeatedly gives us this promise.

RESPOND- When was the last time you told someone about Jesus? Do you let your faith show to everyone around you? Or do you just bring it out at church? That’s a difficult question, but one that we all need to answer. This week, make a point of allowing your faith to show. Talk about what Jesus has done for you just like you talk about your kids or your dog. Your testimony has more power than you know!
